Performing Arts Sound/Recording Engineer

Description

Operates equipment to record, synchronize, mix or reproduce sound for band, and orchestra concerts, recitals, theatre and dance productions, operas, and other special events. Works closely with and advises directors, conductors and performers concerning sound requirements for performances including microphone and speaker placement, and sound mixing. Designs special effects for theatre productions. Tests, repairs and sets up electronic equipment in performance venues and classrooms. Edits, and duplicates tapes and CDS of performances. May train and supervise students on use of sound mixing boards and recording equipment. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
