Optician

Description

Provides optician services and assists customers/patients in frame selection and specifications to customers and patients. Measures customers/patients for inter-pupillary distances, segment heights for bifocals, trifocals, progressive addition lenses and double segments. Typically, a training course from a community college or equivalent training program is required in addition to certification by the American Board of Opticianry. This Classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
