Description

Assists in the diagnosis and treatment of visual defects by administering orthoptic and pleoptic tests teaches patients how to develop and use binocular vision. Operates and coordinates the maintenance of orthoptic equipment. Positions, instructs and directs patients during treatment and therapy. Completion of either an accredited training center program or preceptorship is required as well as Certification by the American Orthoptic Council. This Classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
