Description

Coordinate the physical therapy care for all patients assigned to a team. Interpret referrals and ensure necessary precautions are identified. Develop focused individually designed treatment plans based on the patient's functional goals. Utilize independent clinical decision making on a daily basis to progress patients and modify treatment depending upon the patient's need and medical status. Monitor patients through the provision of treatment and respond appropriately to changes in the patient's status. Consult with, and serve as a resource to, other health care professionals regarding therapy administered and projected treatment goals. Become known and act as the primary resource and Division representative to other disciplines and special committees within their specialty area, particularly referring physicians. Provide leadership in program development and program updates in their area of specialty. Provide objective feedback on the strengths and areas in need of improvement in staff member's clinical performance to the team supervisor. Assist supervisor in planning and staffing the team and in coaching staff. Orient and train staff in their area of expertise. Participate in team and/or Division and/or Hospital committees, projects, and work groups. Teach in PT curriculums, present at state and national conferences, and /or teach in continuing education courses in their area of expertise. Participate in and report on research. Requires Bachelor of Science Degree or Master of Science Degree or Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from an accredited program, Michigan Licensure in Physical Therapy, and reasonable progressively responsible experience in physical therapy, teaching and coordinating the work of others. This Classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix. Labor market typical education and experience: Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
