Speech and Language Pathologist Senior

Description

Coordinates programmatic functions within a specific area of Speech-Language Pathology, with special clinical expertise in a designated area of clinical functioning. Teaches professionals about a specific area of communication/swallowing disorder and mentors assigned speech-language pathologists. Evaluates children and adults with speech, resonance, voice, language, cognitive-communicative and pragmatic communication disorders and oral-pharyngeal swallowing disorders. Documents evaluation findings and designs and implement treatment plans. Counsels patient and families. Licensure as a Speech and Language Pathologist in the State of Michigan is required. This Classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix. Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) by ASHA is desirable; eligibility to initiate and complete the CCC is necessary. Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
