Tool Design Engineer Associate

Description

Designs a broad range of tools including forming and cutting tools. Designs jigs, dies, and fixtures for production or experimental use. Studies specifications and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and costs of tools. Applies mathematical formulas and standard tool engineering data to develop tool configuration. Selects standard items for incorporation into tool design. Draws preliminary sketches and prepares layout and detail drawings. Modifies tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance. 0-1 year professional experience. Entry level for employees with Bachelor Degree or equivalent. Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization. Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks. Work is routine and instructions are usually detailed. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
