Sign Language Interpreter

Description

Provides interpreting and transliterating services between deaf and hard of hearing patients and their physicians and staff. Assists deaf patients with their health care needs. Advocates and acts as a resource person for deaf patients as well as staff/physicians. Participates as a member of the organization's health care delivery team by exercising sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality of employee and patient information at all times. Certification from the State Quality Assurance Program as a QAIII is necessary. This classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Matrix. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
