Rehabilitation Counselor

Description

Manages the transition of the patient and family to the outpatient rehabilitation program. Establishes insurance coverage and contingencies and transmits information between the physician, attorney, family, team members and external insurance case managers. Provides counseling services to assist family members in adjusting to the effects of brain injury, under the supervision of a fully-licensed Psychologist. Assists families with accessing appropriate services and resources. Develops and implements family education modules regarding acquired brain injury and its sequelae. Manages specific programs within the rehabilitation program, such as the re-evaluation program, outcome assessment and summer program. Facilitates patient scheduling and monitors patient attendance, addressing barriers to consistent attendance. Typically possesses a M.A. or M.S. in Psychology, with a limited license in Psychology. Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
