Chief Medical Technologist

Description

Supervises and participates in the performance of various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests. Prepares work schedules and assigns duties to laboratory staff. Checks validity and accuracy of test results. Instructs trainees in procedures and techniques of performing tests. Performs experimental testing procedures and suggests changes to increase the validity and reliability of results. Labor market typical education and experience: Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
