Chemical Technician Associate

Description

Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses in organic, inorganic, physical, analytical chemistry, photochemistry or electrochemistry to determine the chemical and physical properties of materials, liquids and gasses. Performs titrations and other chemical tests, and uses instrumental techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy and diffraction. Prepares or synthesizes materials for laboratory examination and uses glove boxes, high vacuum systems or furnaces. Excludes technicians working in biochemistry. 0-3 years of experience in area of specialization. Applies basic and develops advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization. Duties and tasks are standardized. Performs some more advanced functions as part of training and development. Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher levels. Works under direct supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
