Chemical Technician Intermediate

Description

Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses in organic, inorganic, physical, analytical chemistry, photochemistry or electrochemistry to determine the chemical and physical properties of materials, liquids and gasses. Performs titrations and other chemical tests, and uses instrumental techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy and diffraction. Prepares or synthesizes materials for laboratory examination and uses glove boxes, high vacuum systems or furnaces. Excludes technicians working in biochemistry. 3-5 years of experience in area of specialization. Applies advanced skills in area of specialization. May adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs. Duties and tasks are frequently nonroutine. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels. Works under minimal supervision. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
