Description
Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses in organic, inorganic, physical, analytical chemistry, photochemistry or electrochemistry to determine the chemical and physical properties of materials, liquids and gasses. Performs titrations and other chemical tests, and uses instrumental techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy and diffraction. Prepares or synthesizes materials for laboratory examination and uses glove boxes, high vacuum systems or furnaces. Excludes technicians working in biochemistry. 5 or more years of experience in area of specialization Applies mastery of skills in area of specialization. Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs. Duties and tasks reflect substantial variety and complexity. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues. Works under general supervision. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
