Description

Responsible for handling complex legal matters or projects. Has expertise in federal and state laws pertaining to FCC regulations as they affect the operations of the company. Testifies, lobbies, negotiates, and assists in preparation and presentation of issues before the regulatory and legislative commissions. This is the most senior skill level, without supervisory responsibility. May provide functional advice or training to less experienced attorneys. Typically requires 8 or more years of experience and a law degree. Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a J.D. degree as well as admission or eligibility for admission to the State Bar of Michigan. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position meet the criteria for exempt status.
