Scientific/Biological Illustrator

Description

Develops drawings, paintings, diagrams, and/or models of subjects for use in publications, exhibits, consultations, research and teaching. Completes illustrations in pen and ink, oil, monochromatic wash, watercolor, carbon dust, and mixed media. Constructs or advises in construction of models in plaster, wax, plastics and other materials. Devises visual aids, for example, films, video tapes, charts and computer graphics, to assist in teaching and research programs. Normally requires a bachelors degree. A minimum of two to four years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for this occupation. Employees in this classification typically perform work requiring invention, imagination, originality, or talent in a recognized field of artistic or creative endeavor. Primary activities involve a high degree of creativity with broad leeway to develop an original work product. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
