Certified Prosthetic Technician

Description

Provides support to the prosthetist in providing care to patients with partial or total absence of a limb by fabricating prostheses. Under the guidance of and in consultation with the prosthetist, fabricates prostheses and/or their components in such a manner as to provide maximum fit, function, cosmesis and workmanship. Performs repairs to and maintenance of prostheses. Must keep up to date on all new fabricating techniques, must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials, and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment. Certification as a Prosthetic Technician by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc (ABC) is necessary. This Classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
