Intraoperative Monitoring Neuromonitorist

Description

Under the supervision of the IOM Manager, the IOM Neuromonitorist performs preoperative assessment of patients, conducts intraoperative sensory and motor tests using currently accepted electrophysiologic techniques to assist in the decrease of incidence of stroke, parathesia, impotence, incontinence and paralysis as a post surgical outcome for patients. Performs moderate to complex neurological exams requiring the knowledge and use of multiple diagnostic techniques (e.g., SSEP in conjunction with TceMEP, EMG, EEG, BAEP, VEP, sensory motor mapping and cortical mapping). Compiles real time data and completes post operative reports and billing forms. Interact and support the surgical team and surgeons during surgery to provide interpretative data regarding the patients' neurological status. Reviews patients' medical charts and explains procedures to patients and/or families. Assists in the education and training of technical staff. Participates in research in the field of neuroscience. Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists as a CNIM is required and is part of the Primary Source Verification process. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
