Diagnostic Physicist Non-Certified

Description

With supervision, performs quality control (QC) testing of diagnostic x-ray, ultrasound and PACS imaging equipment and maintains accurate records of these tests. Evaluates on-going QC programs performed by technologists for efficacy and accuracy. Ensures that imaging equipment meets relevant State and Federal regulations, and that QC program comply with ACR guidelines. Works closely with other medical physicists, technologists, radiologists, and other hospital staff to ensure the safe and effective use of x-ray imaging equipment (including radiography, fluoroscopy and CT), ultrasound imaging equipment, and PACS equipment. Troubleshoots daily imaging and equipment problems. Performs radiation shielding calculations and submits shielding designs to the State. Assists in the research and development of new QC methods. A Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Radiological Science or related field is necessary with reasonable knowledge of radiation physics and dosimetry. Must have demonstrated skills in the areas of problem-solving, data-analysis, oral and written communication. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
