Description
Coordinates and performs advanced, specialized complex work in the handling, feeding, treatment, collecting samples, performing procedures, and overall care of animals. Assists in the development of standard operating procedures. Performs experimental procedures, monitors animal health and environmental conditions, and schedules and conducts standard tests. Confers with researchers regarding special handling and treatment needs. Observes animals for signs of disease and health defects. Maintains records of animal care, including inventory of supplies, treatment and service. Performs prescribed preventive and therapeutic treatment procedures. May require certification, such as LATG, RVT, or LVT. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
