Child Care Site Assistant Director

Description

Provides support to the Center Director in the administration and daily operations of the Center. Responsible for assuring curriculum and teaching compliance with the Center's philosophy, provides support and guidance in Child Care Licensing and National Accreditation documentation, and provides instruction to undergrad students. Observes and supports teachers in the development of high quality and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Supports classroom teachers in working with children with special needs, including providing information to the family and/or staff on community resources as appropriate. Coordinates and supports documentation of child assessment, licensing and national accreditation standards. Coordinates professional training sessions in collaboration with Center Director and in response to identified staff needs. Directs summer camp and other school age programs offered by the Center. Coordinates Center fundraising events and activities. Must meet state license requirements. May require a master's degree in early childhood education or related field. Requires 5-8 years experience with child development programs. Employees have impact on budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change. The primary duty of employees in this classification is the management of a customarily recognized department or subdivision, including the supervision of three or more full-time equivalent employees every week. Direction is over a permanent status-continuing function, not a collection of employees assigned to complete a project. Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary. Management responsibilities include the authority to hire, fire, or promote assigned employees or make recommendations that are given particular weight. Employees have impact on budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
