Description
Provides engineering services in support of operation, maintenance, optimization, troubleshooting, planning and repair of complex facilities systems, utilities systems and the Central Power Plant to ensure safe and efficient environment for the University community. Directs and coordinates the development and administration of engineering policies and practices designed to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and to promote cost reduction throughout the organization. Has oversight for the activities of the Outlying Boiler crew and supervisor in operating and maintaining individual boilers, and provides budget planning, oversight and long-range planning. Requires more than 10 years professional experience with increasing responsibilities. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
