Description
Second senior official responsible for the development of programs and policies for career counseling and placement within a school/college. Develops contacts with a variety of private and public institutions to determine employment needs and encourage recruitment. Counsels students and alumni about career planning and employment opportunities. Represents school's placement and career services internally and externally via written materials, oral presentations, and interviews with the media. Education and Experience: Master's degree in counseling and 3 to 5 years related experience with expertise in such areas as counseling and program development. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
