Safety Specialist

Description

Assists in development and implementation of safety policies and procedures. Assists in implementing programs relating to general safety, fire protection, accident prevention and accident investigation. Conducts periodic site inspections to assess compliance with in-house and outside agency safety regulations. Maintains documentation of inspections and follow-up. May develop and conduct formal training programs. Escorts outside agencies on safety-related tours and inspections. Conducts fire/evacuation drills. Assists in the gathering of data and interpretation of accident statistics. Develops and implements hazardous chemical waste disposal policies and procedures. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
