Budget Analyst Intermediate

Description

Prepares operating budgets for units or departments based on actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated revenue, expense reports and other factors. Reviews expenditures of requisitioning departments to ensure conformance to budgetary limitations. Maintains records of expenses, inventories and budget balances. Audits vouchers and expense accounts. Maintains records of actual operating figures for comparison with estimated budget. Assists in the installation of budgetary control systems. Utilizes computer to input, retrieve, or display budget information. 2 - 5 years of professional experience. Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization. Under supervision, performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
