Description
Under general supervision, responds and researches payroll inquiries such as salary analyses, salary prorations, payroll earnings records, retiree benefit payments, Workers Compensation payments. Collects, interprets, and analyzes moderately complex payroll data, reviews payroll reports and creates appropriate payroll or time/labor transaction to correct errors. Process salary payment reversals and payroll updates, as well as accounts receivable documentation, as needed. Review retroactive appointment changes, analyze impact on general ledger distribution of salary expenses and process general ledger corrections accordingly. Audit financial transactions related to salary and fringe benefit expenses and analyze potential changes resulting from changes in HR appointment data. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
