Construction Estimator Senior

Description

Collaborates with team of project managers and architects/engineers on complex projects to develop complex detailed work scope including labor, material, and time required to complete requested scope of work considering code requirements, constructability, and worker safety. Submits and records estimate information to customers. Has independent discretion and authority to assist in resolving problems during complex construction projects by suggesting alternatives to original design, preparing cost estimates, and evaluating/recommending sub-contractors. Requests, receives and evaluates vendor/subcontractor pricing for work performed by outside vendors. Meets with customers on-site to discuss and fully develop project scope as necessary to prepare cost and time estimates. Supports Managers and Supervisors with pricing bulletins or fieldwork request changes. Provides sketches as needed to convey scope of work (majority of projects do not use construction documents). Contributes to historical department cost database. Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field. Minimum of five years of experience successfully estimating multidisciplinary projects. General knowledge of relevant building code requirements and construction execution/sequencing. Experience in construction work, preparing cost estimates and familiar with the contractor quotation process. Experience with various technical estimating publications and systems, and their appropriate application. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
