Description
Responsible for providing overall leadership to project team members for the design and/or construction of major capital construction projects of a highly complex nature. Responsible for managing the project construction process, assuring completion within established schedule and budgetary limits, and in accordance with design specifications and regulatory codes. Provides technical and analytical guidance to project team. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. Possesses and applies an advanced knowledge of construction management for highly complex capital construction projects, often requiring new and unique approaches. Plans and directs major projects, supplying inspiration, leadership and consultation to professional co-workers. Minimum of 10 years experience, dependent upon education and previous responsibilities. Possesses and applies an advanced knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of projects of major complexity. Plans, conducts and directs engineering and/or development work on complex projects necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches. Plans and directs projects and supplies technical inspiration, leadership and consultation to professional co-workers. May represent the organization in outside discussions and technical forums. Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program or an NAAB accredited first professional degree in Architecture. Registration as a professional Engineer or Architect is desirable. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
