Purchasing Senior Supervisor

Description

Supervises the purchase of materials and supplies from vendors and coordinates the preparation of material and supply purchase orders based on approved requisitions. Ensures the processing of change orders and appropriate communications with vendors regarding material and quantity requirement revisions, rate adjustments and incorrect materials. Follows up on orders to expedite deliveries. Ensures the verification of invoices against original orders to ascertain compliance with all conditions of purchase prior to payment, and the maintenance of purchase order files, invoices and related purchasing records. This is the highest level of supervisor. Employees in this classification supervise three or more full-time equivalent employees every week. Direction is over a permanent status-continuing function, not a collection of employees assigned to complete a project. Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary. Management responsibilities include the authority to hire, fire, or promote assigned employees or make recommendations that are given particular weight. The subordinate group will generally possess a wide variety of skills and/or knowledge, performing somewhat complex to very complex tasks. Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate group. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
