Academic Advisor/Counselor Senior

Description

Provides academic advising services to current students, potential majors, minors, and others; utilizes confidential information and conducts confidential conversations to provide these services. Coordinates and participates in early academic intervention activities and academic standards review committees, including taking or recommending appropriate actions, interventions, and student advising. May oversee the coordination of the faculty advising program in collaboration with the academic departments, which may include the assignment of students to faculty advisors, development of new advising programs and procedures, and the planning and execution of training sessions for new faculty advisors. May administer psychoeducational assessments. Education and Experience: Bachelor degree and 3-5 years related experience. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently and directly related to academic instruction or training. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
