Absence/Leave Case Manager Senior

Description

Directs and coordinates appropriate, timely and cost-effective delivery of health care related to disability, urgent and emergency care, work limitations, transitional return to work plans, accommodations and part-time work for workers' compensation and nonworkers' compensation illness and injury. Responsible for oversight of paid leave programs supporting qualified absences due to occupational and non-occupational events. Determines service needs, selects and evaluates the services of appropriate network providers, and makes recommendations for retention or removal from the network. Identifies and coordinates the process of cases requiring physician-level review and implements recommendations. Identifies cases involving high-frequency and high-risk injuries/illnesses and performs ongoing evaluation and treatment plans. Determines essential job functions and identifies and implements necessary limitations, accommodations and part-time work for high-frequency/high-risk cases to reduce the length of disability. Reviews departments' return to work efforts and provide strategic focus to improve results. Has advanced knowledge of the job area managing projects/processes, while working independently with limited supervision. Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
