Description

Isolates and makes cultures of significant bacteria or other micro-organisms, identifies micro-organisms by microscopic examinations. Observes action of micro-organisms upon living tissues. Makes chemical analyses of substances produced by bacteria and other micro-organisms. 5-8 years professional experience. Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments. May cross fields. Recommends changes in procedures. Labor market typical education and experience: Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
