Network Architect Lead

Description

Recognized expert internally and externally for high-level network planning, design, and optimization and often provides strategic direction, guidance and integration of products and services. Develops strategies and direction for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies (including wireless and VoIP). Translates business requirements into network or process designs. Plans and recommends network hardware, systems management software and architecture. Approves and modifies network design and architecture to ensure compliance. Configures and maintains routers, switches, and hubs for the network systems (including wireless and VoIP). Evaluates and recommends new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise. Monitors network performance, ensures capacity planning is performed, and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement. Performs troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scripts. Takes on the role of Project Leader for special enterprise wide assignments. Coaches or mentor junior technical staff. Responsible for work that is highly complex and varied in nature. Requires highest level understanding of organization's business and industry requirements. Defines and discerns key aspects of a problem and develops an integrated solution within a broad business context of significant impact. Education and Experience: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience. 7 to 10 years experience. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Employees are not involved in the operation, repair, or maintenance of computer hardware, networks, or equipment. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
