Description
Gathers, analyzes and interprets data to identify opportunities to improve the cost and quality of care in the inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Facilitates medical and disease management, assessment of physician practice patterns and case management. Develops design specifications and works with technical staff to assist with development and testing of production reports and information systems. In instances where a vendor system is used to produce performance measurement results, identifies enhancements necessary to satisfy health system requirements. Prepares reports and conducts analyses of cost and quality of care performance, based on measures of process and outcomes of care. Works with physicians, nurses and other clinicians and administrators to develop strategies to improve performance. Possesses and applies knowledge of measurement and analysis to the completion of well-defined assignments. May need guidance to define relevant measures and analytical methods. Labor market typical education and experience: Has a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field which is directly related to the duties of the position and at least 3 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting process, clinical outcomes and costs of care. Has knowledge of or experience in the delivery of patient care needed to perform the duties of the position. Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
