Staff Physician

Description

Responsible for diagnoses and treating of patients in the ambulatory care setting, in the area of specialty appropriate to training and experience. Obtains a history of illness and related health information. Performs physical examinations, routine gynecologic care, and disease specific physical assessment; orders laboratory, medical imaging, and other related diagnostic procedures. Analyzes reports, findings of tests and examinations, and proficiently communicates these to the patient. Makes diagnosis, and prescribes or administers a spectrum of treatments, which may include office procedures. May participate in various committees, work groups, or special projects. Education and experience: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy, along with board eligibility or certification in their area of specialty. This Classification requires registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix. Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Doctorate degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position meet the criteria for exempt status.
