Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist

Description

Calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs in accordance with departmental procedures and generally accepted Dosimetry practices. Calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations and records treatment data in therapy chart. Performs verification checks and applies quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of dose calculations. Labor market typical education and experience: Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
