Medical Assistant Associate

Description

Performs and assists with clinical procedures, maintain equipment, perform laboratory procedures and provide direct patient care. Administers common medications according to unit guidelines and providers' orders and as delegated by providers and nurses including immunizations, Vitamin-12, and bronchodilators via nebulizer mist. Performs allergy testing and other complex diagnostic tests, including those requiring complex specimen collections and complex equipment. Provides routine but complex instructions for patient procedures and treatments, according to unit guidelines and as delegated by providers and nurses. Assists with complex procedures, requiring knowledge of complex and varied equipment including LEEP and laser. May provide leadership to other Medical Assistants. Provides in-service training and precepting as directed. Problem-solves issues related to the retrieval of medical information. Coordinates clinical services provided to patients according to payer guidelines (e.g., routing of lab specimens, ordering durable medical equipment). Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
