Radiation Physicist

Description

Ensures the quality of care in the use of radiation producing sources and imaging equipment and the protection of patients and staff from radiation. Calibrates all radiation therapy equipment. Conducts X-ray machine performance surveys as needed and implements quality control procedures for electronic imaging devices. Recommends radiation safety procedures to areas using radiation. Educates personnel in radiation protection practices. Labor market typical education and experience: Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
