Ombudsperson

Description

Directs the Office of the Ombuds, open to all members of the community, to help resolve problems or complaints within the institution and achieve equitable settlements. Promotes student learning and development and provides services that are independent of the institution's administration and are confidential. Provides information on institution policies and practices, helps examine alternatives, and finds the proper authorities to resolve the situation. As an unbiased third party the Ombudsperson seeks solutions for the interested parties. Develops procedures and maintains records as appropriate. Education and Experience: Masters Degree or equivalent and 7 years related experience. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
