Strategic Planner Expert Healthcare

Description

Responsible for coordinating and conducting complex planning projects for the clinical, educational, and research services, and the resulting services, facilities, equipment, and other resources. Responsible for collaboration with faculty, staff, and leaders across the Health System. Responsible for the establishment of organization objectives, in the development of organization long-range and strategic plans, the identification of organization strengths and weaknesses, and business opportunities. May direct and conduct special studies in areas such as patient origin, market share, demographic, market, and competitor analyses. May direct and create documents, websites, and brochures to communicate planning information. May maintain and analyze Health System and vendor databases of information used for UMHS planning, including competitor information. May prepare, manage, and monitor certificate of need (CoN) applications for UMHS services and facilities requiring certificates of need, and represent Health System to be successful with applications. Provide consultation to Health System clinical and administrative leaders, managers, faculty, and staff related to strategic and tactical planning and decision making. Serve as a Health System liaison with external planning agencies, professional associations, approval bodies, and vendors of planning information. May be responsible for mergers and acquisitions activity. More than 8 years increasingly responsible professional experience. Possesses and applies an advanced knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of projects of major complexity. Plans, conducts and directs planning work on complex projects necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches. Labor market typical education and experience: Employees in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position (Master's degree preferred) . Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
