Has oversight for the overall operation and direction of the Women's Center including the strategic planning, financial management and planning, and the development and implementation of short and long-term organizational goals and objectives. Responsible for Center resource development which includes active engagement in gift and endowment development and in developing new programs/projects and securing grants and other funding from various sources. Develops and serves as principal investigator on research projects that will address women's issues, publish books, articles and reports. Lead university wide efforts to foster improved policies, programs and climate for women faculty, students and staff. Work to position the Center and University as state and national leaders concerning women and higher education. The primary duty of employees in this classification is leadership and management of a customarily recognized department or subdivision, including the supervision of three or more full-time equivalent employees every week. Direction is over a permanent status-continuing function. Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary. Management responsibilities include the authority to hire, fire, or promote assigned employees or make recommendations that are given particular weight. Employees have impact on budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position meet the criteria for exempt status.
